Another holiday season has passed, and another Omaha family has been given the Gift of Beautiful Trees! This is the second year of our charity program where we ask the community to submit nominations for their deserving neighbors, colleagues, families and friends to receive up to $2,500 in free tree trimming and removal services. While it may not seem like much, we truly believe that, "the meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away." Our 2016 Gift of Beautiful Trees recipient, Jill, was nominated anonymously by a neighbor who new of Jill's recent battle with thyroid cancer. Jill had a declining ash tree in her front yard that needed to be removed, and two red oak trees that had storm damage that were in need of a good trim.

Owning a home near a lake can make your backyard feel like a private wilderness retreat - unless you can't see the lake! A customer of ours owns a home with a beautiful deck overlooking Lake Cunningham. Unfortunately, some unsightly trees had invaded the wooded area between the lake and his home, blocking the view. We were able to obtain a city permit to work in the park area separating the bike and walking path and his backyard. We're so proud of the result!
Our customer was thrilled that we were able to clear enough trees so that they could enjoy the view of lake without sacrificing the privacy they needed from people using the nearby trail. They also enjoyed watching the hot air balloons descend toward the lake during the Omaha Wine & Balloon Festival this August. We returned to visit recently once the trees had filled out. There was even enough sunlight that our customer was able to sew some wildflower seeds. It has transformed into a beautiful space that even attracts birds and wildlife!
Room to GrowWhen we began this experiment, we noticed several postcards coming in requesting better communication. Our customers needed to know further in advance when the work would be done. Since then, we started calling our customers at least one to two days ahead of time so they'd know when we'd be on their property doing the work. This is just one of the many changes we have made in response to our customers' feedback. Keep it coming! Thanks, Omaha, for helping us step up our game!
- Jeff & Amy Check out these great action shots of a cottonwood our crew cut down. Pictured in the tree is Steven, our climber-in-training. He is well on his way to becoming a certified arborist and expert tree climber, and already exhibits great skill, agility, and an eye for aesthetics. Steven has a take-charge attitude and leads by example. He communicates his vision of the job clearly to the crew, and they work together wonderfully to get the job done! Below, Steven and Bailey review the job plan. Can you tell Steven loves his job? Look at that grin!
